Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about coaching?
People often ask what coaching looks like, how it works, and whether it’s the right fit for them. If you’re curious but not quite sure what to expect, you’re not alone.
I offer both one-on-one coaching and small-group Coaching Circles — each designed to help you move from uncertainty to clarity, strengthen conviction in your next direction, and make lasting change through my Clarity–Conviction–Change™ framework.
Here are some of the most common questions I hear — answered as clearly and honestly as possible.
What kinds of people do you coach?
Most of my clients are journalists, communications professionals, educators, and writers navigating change — a career shift, creative block, or leadership transition. They’re accomplished but ready for something more aligned. Coaching gives them the structure and space to reflect, refocus, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy often focuses on healing the past. Coaching focuses on shaping what’s next. We explore where you are now, what you want, and what’s getting in the way — then build a plan to move forward. If deeper emotional or clinical support is needed, I’ll always recommend therapy alongside or instead of coaching.
What happens in a coaching session?
Each session lasts about 50–60 minutes. We start with what’s most present for you that day, explore patterns and perspectives, and end with clear next steps. Between sessions, you’ll have reflection prompts or tools to help you integrate what we’ve discussed.
Your first full coaching session after the discovery call is free — we’ll use it to clarify your goals and design a coaching plan that fits.
How long do people usually work with you?
Most clients work with me for about 12 weeks, though some continue longer as they evolve. The 12-week package offers discounted pricing and includes ongoing support between sessions.
What does coaching cost?
Rates start at $125 per session for individual coaching. Discounted pricing is available for 12-week packages, which include your first full session free (a $125 value) and email check-ins between calls. We’ll discuss the best structure for your goals during your free 30-minute discovery call.
Do you offer group programs?
Yes. In early 2026, I’ll open enrollment for two new Coaching Circles — small-group experiences that combine reflection, structure, and community:
The Journalist’s Circle — for reporters, editors, and media professionals redefining their purpose in a changing industry.
Reclaiming the Voice Within — a Women’s Coaching Circle for women of color and creative leaders ready to lead with clarity, conviction, and authenticity.
Each circle helps participants reconnect to their voice, strengthen self-trust, and create meaningful change alongside peers who understand their journey.
You can join the interest list or mention your interest during a free discovery call.
Do you use AI in your coaching?
Only when it supports your goals. For some clients, I use AI tools to refine résumés, strengthen LinkedIn profiles, or spark story ideas. For others, our work stays entirely conversational. The focus is always on human insight, not algorithms.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
If you’re questioning what’s next — and you’re ready to explore that question with honesty and curiosity — coaching can help. The best way to know is to experience it. That’s why I offer a free 30-minute discovery call to see if we’re a good fit.
Ready to Explore What’s Next?
If something here resonates — even a little — let’s talk. You can book a free 30-minute discovery call to see whether coaching is the right fit, or send me a note with your questions. Either way, the conversation is the first step toward clarity.
